We are looking for a Head of Production Engineering & Technology.

You will be defining and leading the strategy for production operations across multiple London sites of this leading global media communications company.

About the Role

This role will facilitate new and existing technologies and software into current workflows and processes, optimizing and innovating on the delivery of existing and new business.

The role requires specialism in the support and maintenance of high-end workstations running applications such as Flame, Maya, ProTools, Nuke, Premier, After Effects etc., and integration with data networks, video distribution matrices, render farms, and storage systems in a multi-platform and multi-site environment.

You will be required to work closely with UK Production Management and the centralised back office company to help coordinate workflows and projects across all the sites, as well as help and advise in the planning and operation of the studios to ensure that departmental capabilities are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

As the Manager of all production Engineering and Technology, you will specify software and hardware implemented into the studios, ensure all future CapEx investment is in line with company global standards, whilst supporting the needs of the local business and providing the maximum ROI.

Duties & Key Responsibillities

Demonstrate a good understanding of broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, and connectivity that are key to the future advancements of the studios.
Working across all technology disciplines within production, focusing mainly on Broadcast whilst possessing wider knowledge of Digital and Print environments and their interaction across all streams.
Refine and develop day-to-day operational efficiencies and processes within the studios, tailoring and advising UK Production management of any technology advances that may affect the studios.
Developing standards that sit across all activities of the broadcast domain and overlaps between print and digital streams.
Innovate the centralisation of services and technology where applicable, to ensure the most efficient use of resources and investment, whilst maximizing up-time of equipment and services.
Deploy advance knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) technologies and delivery specifications to global markets to help streamline the business.
Investigate and define clear roles and responsibilities of overlap with local IT department within Company offices that further align overall studio backbone within the business.
Line management of engineering team and facilitate, grow and develop partnership technologies that have been chosen to integrate with company technologies.
Liaising directly with Support vendor(s) for day-to-day operational concerns. Develop clear lines of communication and touch points that improve the business' performance. Continually looking to assess the requirements, seeking to cultivate a strategy that can provide a solution of ownership, against the operational expenditure.
Training, onboarding and providing documentation to the studios in the remit globally.
Bridge the gap between technical operational workflows when issues arise.
Act as the liaison with distributors and vendors that integrate into the day to day operational lifecycles of the business.

Team / Operations:

Prioritise effectively under pressure and demonstrate a sense of urgency relevant to a delivery-focussed facility
Mobility and energy to work across a multi-site environment
Willingness to roll sleeves up and 'get under desks' if and when needed, to ensure urgent production needs are met.

About You

Key Requirements:

Strong understanding of broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, and connectivity within production, mainly Broadcast whilst possessing wider knowledge of Digital and Print.
Advanced knowledge of broadcast technologies, software and hardware.
Full knowledge of storage and server systems that are integral to the solution(s) (SAN, NAS, MAM, Cloud, other), both locally and at Global levels.
You must be able to emonstrate a good understanding of broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, and connectivity that are key to the future advancements of the studios.
Strong leadership experience and skill is key, as this role is responsible for all the media production engineering and technology being implemented within the company and studios.
You must be passionate about new technologies and have a breadth of knowledge and interest in what you do.
